1. Massage table
Recommended measurements for massage table:
- Can be lowered to 500mm from the ground
- 640 mm to 800 mm in height
- 600 mm to 700 mm in width
- 1850 mm in length
- 335 mm addition of a face cradle making enough to accommodate taller client
- Approximately 12-18kg in weight
2. Massage lubricant
Base oils are most popular for body Massage
Choosing any base oils (coconut oil, sweet almond oil, olive oil, grape seed, etc.)
3. Linens
Sheet and Towel
Place sheet underneath towel to stop towel from slipping off the table. This also protects table from getting oil on it.
When washing towels and sheets, use detergent with white vinegar to help brighten, soften as well as remove odour.
After laundry, it is recommended that sheets and towels to be hung up until almost dried up. This should be followed by drying using dryer which will keep towels to stay soft after washing.
4. A clock
Time is everything.
Make sure using a clock that makes no sound .
Phone timer with vibration is not recommended due to distracting noise.
5. Pillow and Poster
6. Music; Tape/ CD player
Background music is highly recommended.
Using music in massage therapy is to help improving respiration, lowering blood pressure, improved cardiac output, reduced heart rate and relaxed muscle tension.
In terms of mental health, this form of therapy is great for reducing stress’s common negative side effects, including emotional and behavioural problems.
7. Burner, Essential oil, Candles
The addition of essential oil into the base oil for the treatment helps improving mood and reducing stress.
Choosing essential oils: lavender essential oil, Ylang Ylang, etc. Avoid cheap fragrant oils.

P/s: Temperature! One factor that makes a huge difference
Recommended room temperature: 21 – 25 degrees in summer and 27 to 30 degrees in winter
You can use a heat pack/electric blanket to cover client in cold seasons. Bottle warmer can also be used to warm the massage oil to make the massage feel even better.
